Last year Winged Chariot covered the unfortunate situation in which 610
Squadron Association found itself. It was also reported in the national press
as well as radio and TV, and generated a lot of feelings locally, and there was
a good deal of sympathy towards 610 and what the Association represented.
Supportive comments from the public have appeared on our website,
it would be good to have more encouragement from members through this medium
However we were not homeless for long! One of our Members, Alan Smith of Alpine Storage offered us alternative accommodation at the “Black Hangar” to the west of the main hangars.
This hangar, a WW2 T1 hangar was the home of 610 (County of Chester) Squadron when it was active at RAF Hooton Park. The painting above shows the Squadron’s Meteors on the pan. Not only are we still on the site of Royal Air Force Station Hooton Park, but we are back in OUR hangar!
There now remains much work to be done. or RETURN TO MAIN MENU |
